Hot Tip: Shipping Boxes Sized to Fit in Flat Rate Padded Envelopes

August 31st, 2012

The "Scotty Stuffer" box by BubbleFast fits inside a Flat Rate Padded Envelope providing extra protection for your product

Priority Mail Flat Rate® Padded Envelopes can hold up to 70 pounds, but they don’t always offer enough protection for fragile products. In response, BubbleFast — a family run business based in Gurnee, IL that sells shipping supplies targeted to the e-commerce community – has introduced a new product that lets you ship with Flat Rate Padded Envelopes as well as protect your products.

Scotty Stuffer — A protective shipping box that fits in Flat Rate Padded Envelopes
Company owners Mark and Robin Le Vine created the Scotty Stuffer™, a unique box designed to fit directly inside a Priority Mail Flat Rate Padded Envelope. The creation of the Scotty Stuffer resulted from a collaboration of many different sellers in the eBay community.

Grannie Annie Timbreza, eBay seller of Stuff-From-Hawaii, was looking for a method to lower shipping costs for the dashboard Hula dolls she sells across the U.S. She had been using regular boxes to ship her items, but wanted to look at other options to lower costs.  She tested using Priority Mail Flat Rate Padded Envelopes, but the envelopes led to product damages. Her friend and fellow eBay seller, Scott Henshaw of Nanette’s Store, came up with the idea of a “box inside an envelope” — and the rest is history.

Save with Priority Mail Flat Rate Padded Envelopes
By shipping small products inside a Priority Mail Flat Rate Padded Envelope, you can save a significant amount of money. Here’s an example:

Traveler Coffee Cup – 1.0 lb. to Los Angeles to Florida – Zone 8
— $5.10 for Priority Mail Flat Rate Padded Envelope
— $6.20 for regular Priority Mail
$1.10 savings per shipment!

The Scotty Stuffer box complies with all USPS rules and regulations because the box design allows the padded envelope to seal with the regular adhesive. Remember, “If it fits, it ships!” The benefit of the Scotty Stuffer box is it adds extra protection inside the padded envelope. If your Flat Rate shipments need more protection, buy your Scotty Stuffer boxes today!

I agree the flat-rate padded envelope is great. Sadly USPS only allows you to order 15 at a time. My strategy is to order them, then immediatly re-order when the order arrives. I have also ordered them thru stamps.com, but received the wrong item (flat-rate envelope instead of the flat-rate PADDED envelope). Sometimes it can take a long time for USPS to deliver these after placing the order.

I went to the website for BubbleFast and they don’t have the product listed.  Is it possible that they don’t have it for sale yet?  I searched ” scotty stuffer” and it came up with  no products.  maybe find the link to the product and post in your next blog???

Great video and good info been using this method since the Flat Rate Padded Envelope was released. I know the video’s ment for selling product long term, but you can also order the USPS Priority 1096-L box. Does the same thing at no extra charge :)

It was nice to see a spokesman who, while obviously not a professional speaker, is articulate and speaks clearly.  No uh, like, ya know blather and no mumbling.  Kudos, Mark.  You did a fine job.

let me see, I spend 80 cents to save 1.10 which calculates to a 30 cent savings correct? After purchasing the scotty stuffer…right now i use the small rate box and it is free from USPS and I use packing material inside.
So I think it’s a great idea for some products….and certainly in bulk………

This is nice, but when I click on the link for the Scotty Stuffers, the Bubblefast web sites says the product is no longer available.  So much for that innovation!

  15. September 26th, 2012 at 05:49 | #15

The link above to buy scotty stuffers takes you to the page but it says ”
This product is no longer active in our catalog.” The box size or dimensions aren’t given in the video so I have no idea how to locate this item on their website.  Help would be appreciated.

Why pay for boxes? The free USPS large video boxes fit inside the flat rate padded mailers. They also fit inside the cardboard padded mailers.
