International Shipping Insurance and other features now available!

September 24th, 2014

version-8.7We are pleased to announce the launch of Stamps.com Version 8.7 – a free upgrade for Stamps.com customers!  Here are some of the major new features included as part of PC Postage Version 8.7:

International Shipping Insurance

Available at the same discounted rates as domestic insurance, Stamps.com now offers insurance for international shipments up to $2500 in value.  International shipping insurance from Stamps.com is an inexpensive, easy way to ship any international USPS mail class worry free.   With Stamps.com, you can insure packages to any country that the USPS delivers to with insurance prices starting at just $2.03 for insurance of up to $100.  Stamps.com will even keep a record of all of your insured shipments, to help make filing a claim as easy as possible.  To get started using international insurance, just enter an amount in the “Insure For” field when preparing any domestic or international mailpiece.

Support for international SCAN forms

Now when you drop off international packages off at the Post Office, you can quickly obtain proof of mailing by checking your items in with Shipment Confirmation Acceptance Notice (SCAN) forms for international packages.  SCAN forms are a great way to show to your customers their package has been dropped into the USPS mailstream, which is particularly important for international mail because of its longer delivery times.  To get started, simply print out all of your packages and then follow these SCAN form instructions.  SCAN forms are also available for domestic shipments.

Batch Shipping Improvements – Including Item Description Import

We’ve worked to make batch order fulfillment from eBay, Amazon and other marketplaces easier than ever by adding some great new features.  Now you can import item descriptions as part of the Stamps.com batch interface.  Additionally, we’ve added the ability to print on more media types using batch and we allow for address cleansing during import.  Another great feature is that you now have the ability to ship multiple orders to the same recipient as a single batch shipment order.

Important! You must download Version 8.7 in order to use these great new features.   Download Version 8.7 today at www.stamps.com/download – it’s free for existing customers!

    @MUSTAFA ALBAYATI
Hi Mustafa, Unfortunately, we do not have an ETA for when Stamps.com will be able to post-back tracking details to PayPal accounts.

    Thanks!

Will this version update the papal account of tracking numbers?

    Thanks

The USPS does not track International First Class or International Priority Flat Rate beyond “arrived at post office,” period. The Scan forms don’t change that.

I do like the ability to print on a much larger range of label media for Batch shipping, that does make things easier. However the new function for “address cleansing” when first entering the Batch screen for the day (or during import) cannot be turned off, and when I have several hundred orders being imported this isn’t a good thing. Turning “down” the sensitivity of the cleansing (which is what tech support told me to do) does NOT stop the cleansing, only changes what it alerts on. I still have to wait for it to go through the process. Yes there’s a cancel button, but it needs an option to turn it off period.

Also there is no way to change the import settings (ie: how far back the refresh goes when importing) once its set now. There should be a setting in the Preferences to change it if needed.

Also “the ability to ship multiple orders to the same recipient as a single batch shipment order” was not well thought out and planned. There is no way to turn this feature off and on, it DOES occur with older versions of the Stamps software, it now makes it impossible to seperately ship items from such an order (and there are occasions when that does need to happen), and does not allow the manual grouping of seperate orders from when a customer didn’t take the steps to combine them himself. The “order date” does not always corespond to the date of payment, like its supposed to, so when a customer has placed multiple orders for multiple items it now becomes very difficult to tell which order is which because I have no eBay order numbers to go by.

Too bad you don’t support Macs. Seems like forever you’ve been saying a Mac version is coming.

I’ve been using the international features for a long time. My experience is that the under 4 pounds First Class International are not tracked other than delivery at the post office if you ask it to be scanned. I’m going to use the scan sheet today for the first time. I suspect it will be the same. The over 4 pounds are getting scanned all the way for me. My proplem is the First Class International.

I am a big fan of the SCAN forms. I often find myself wondering where a package is at in the system when I am crunched for a birthday. Also I will enjoy the batch shipping improvements. Too many times I have ordered parts for my cameras and end up getting them piece mailed over a few days. Great Changes.

This will be a tremendous help to confirm the delivery of International shippments but only if it is not imperitive that the package is labeled ‘Priority”. I want to track a package to comfirm delivery, not to have it arrive sooner.
